Orchard: Africa exists to equip churches to care for the vulnerable. This year, the Canyon Institute grant will fund the ongoing work of our two Impact Centers located in the Western Cape and North West Provinces of South Africa. In partnership with the Canyon Institute, we will equip churches in the following ways:
Encourage, train and mentor African pastors to help them effectively respond to poverty and suffering in their community
Distribute over 600,000 nutritious meals to church partners serving vulnerable families who live in extreme poverty
Lead 2000+ hours of skill-based training for church leaders in food & agriculture, care, education and ministry programs
Provide seedlings, compost and fertilizer to support church-based gardens that add vitamin rich vegetables to their daily feeding programs
Distribute agriculture materials to partner churches to enable community members to launch at least 100 new container gardens
Provide mentoring and entrepreneurial skills for women living in a culture of gender-based violence
Resource church-based preschools and after school learning centers, serving over 400 children
We give glory to God for the change that is taking place through local African churches and the generosity of the Canyon Institute.
