The Valley of the Sun YMCA is one of Arizona’s largest and oldest nonprofit organizations, serving communities for more than 130 years. Guided by our mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the YMCA operates 11 branches across Maricopa County and 1 resident camp in Prescott. Each year, we impact tens of thousands of children, families, and adults through programs that strengthen minds, bodies, and communities.

At the Legacy Foundation Chris-Town YMCA, the Early Learning Program provides safe, affordable, and high-quality care for working families. More than a childcare option, the program creates nurturing environments where children build social-emotional skills, develop early literacy, and prepare for success in kindergarten and beyond. In 2024, the program served 108 children, giving parents the security of knowing their children are thriving while they pursue work or education.

This year’s Canyon Institute grant will support scholarships for low- and moderate-income families, ensuring that no child is turned away due to financial need. With this investment, more children in the Chris-Town community will gain access to early learning experiences that set the foundation for lifelong success.
