Kharis House, a ministry of Lifesong for Orphans, Inc., serves some of the most vulnerable in Zambia. Females. Young little girls who should be enjoying their adolescence and school, but who are instead giving birth as young as 11 and being married off before they are in their teens. Adolescent pregnancy in Zambia remains one of the most urgent yet under-addressed public health, development, and social justice challenges. It must not be the norm. It is the result of policy failure, economic exclusion, gender injustice, cultural neglect, and underinvestment in young females’ futures. A new narrative is needed! Kharis House wants to be part of this new narrative, and the expansion will help us to do this and serve more girls in need. We provide intervention to young, vulnerable, pregnant girls in Zambia, discipling and empowering them with the possibility of abundant life in Christ. Equipping them to say “yes” to all that God has created them to be. Allowing teenage mothers to know their potential as daughters of the Almighty King. Kharis House provides an alternative. Sanctity of life for mother and baby, a healthy, safe, empowering home where girls and their children can find holistic care, professional counseling, discipleship, restoration, and hope for their future through Jesus Christ and education.
